International law firm

Finsbury Circus, London and Taikoo Place, Hong Kong

This large international law firm wanted to attract new talent into its London office by creating a more contemporary and collaborative workplace.

The existing accommodation was old fashioned and hierarchical, with partners working in small offices and everyone else in open plan. And the small windows of the building’s Edwin Lutyens façade meant that the interior spaces felt gloomy.

C2’s solution was a series of open plan studios – each accommodating a small group of partners and junior fee earners. These semi-transparent rooms create a sense of community while maximising shared daylight across the office floor. Sliding glass doors provide acoustic privacy when required but are usually left open.

The studios are supported by spaces for admin staff, quiet rooms, a coffee zone and a social area, which is used by the whole practice.

C2 rolled out the concept at the firm’s Hong Kong office – where colourful neon signs and spectacular ocean views add local flavour to the design.
