Citypark courtyard

Citypark Glasgow, owned by property investment and development company Wirefox, offers 300,000sq ft of modern office space in the former Wills Tobacco Factory, arranged around a large central courtyard.

Taking advantage of the opportunity presented by essential external resurfacing works, C2’s concept design has transformed a 9,490sq ft section of the drab, underused courtyard into an attractive shared amenity space.

Accessed from the building’s main foyer, the courtyard acts as an extension to the Citypark coffee bar, as well as providing a range of spaces for collaboration, relaxation and recreation. A variety of seating options – from rotating Magis Spun chairs (designed by Thomas Heatherwick) to purpose-built picnic benches by Paul Frampton – invite the building’s occupiers into the space to work and play.

The warm colour palette makes the courtyard seem welcoming even on Glasgow’s greyer days, while further colour and life are provided by larch planters filled with bee-friendly species.

C2 is currently working on the design of the second phase of the project.
