Social Security Scotland, Dundee

Social Security Scotland is an executive agency of the Scottish Government. Its new 65,000sq ft headquarters at Agnes Husband House in Dundee is designed to be an exemplar of accessibility and inclusivity for both visitors and staff. To ensure accessibility for everyone – including wheelchair users and people with visual impairments ‒ C2 developed its design in consultation with a disability user group.

The ground floor houses a public drop-in centre as well as a staff cafe and a multi-functional, multi-configurable meeting facility. This can be opened up to create a town hall space, which is available for local community groups and third-sector organisations to use in the evenings.

The five flexible office floors above include a variety of collaboration spaces as well as quiet rooms, multi-faith rooms and one-to-one rooms. These cellular spaces are located around the core to maintain stunning views of the river Tay, the V&A Dundee and tall ship RRS Discovery.
